Ernest Kumi’s death a devastating blow to NPP – Nana B


 The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has expressed profound grief over the sudden death of ErnestB Yaw Kumi, the Member of Parliament for Akwatia, describing it as a painful loss to both the party and the nation.


Speaking on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News on Monday, July 7, Nana B called the passing “one of the saddest moments” in recent party history.


“This is a big blow; it is a devastating moment for the NPP. The news came today during our NEC meeting. The Eastern Regional Chairman broke the news, and it was later confirmed by the Minority Leader. It’s a very unfortunate event,” he shared.


Nana B also reflected on his personal relationship with the late MP, describing Kumi not just as a colleague, but as a close friend.


“Ernest is a personal friend beyond politics. He was a great guy—intelligent, young, and full of life. The last time I was with him was in Belgium when we attended a conference together. He was truly a rising star in the NPP,” he recalled.


The NPP Organiser extended his condolences to the bereaved family, particularly Kumi’s wife, acknowledging the emotional toll of the tragedy.


“It’s so sad… Our condolences to the family and the wife. I know she is going through a lot right now. We hope and pray that the good Lord grants her the needed strength to carry on.”


Ernest Yaw Kumi’s sudden passing has sent shockwaves across the political landscape, with tributes pouring in from colleagues, party members, and constituents. Widely regarded as a promising and dynamic young leader, Kumi was known for his dedication to national development and party service.
