Dan Kwaku Yeboah Accuses Arsenal of Orchestratin Timing of Rape Charges Against Thomas Partey

Renowned Ghanaian sports journalist Dan Kwaku Yeboah has stirred controversy by accusing English Premier League club Arsenal of playing a role in the timing of the rape charges brought against Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey.

Speaking on Radio XYZ, the veteran Peace FM journalist suggested that the charges which became public shortly after Partey’s contract talks with Arsenal reportedly broke down may have been deliberately timed to coincide with his departure from the club.

“From where I sit, it is too much of a coincidence. The club decided not to renew his contract, and suddenly, charges that date back to 2022 are made public in 2025? This looks like a calculated move to destroy his career,” Kwaku Yeboah alleged.

According to the Metropolitan Police, Partey was officially charged on July 5, 2025, with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault. The alleged offences are said to have taken place between 2021 and 2022 and involve three women. Two counts of rape relate to one complainant, three to another, and the single sexual assault charge to a third woman.

The timing of the charges has raised eyebrows in some circles, particularly among Partey’s supporters and certain sections of the Ghanaian media. Kwaku Yeboah questioned why such serious allegations, reportedly known to authorities since 2022, only came to light after Partey’s exit from Arsenal.

“With the way the charges surfaced, I believe the person who influenced Arsenal’s decision not to extend Partey’s contract is behind this. At this point, it will reduce his market value and discourage interested clubs,” he said. “They have decided to destroy his career.”

The outspoken journalist also criticized the widespread public commentary advising men to be cautious around women in light of the case. He argued that such advice is often hypocritical and fails to acknowledge the complexity of real-world situations.

“People are advising him and other men to be careful, but that may be hypocritical. Men are moved by sight, so if a woman appears naked, it’s likely the man will be aroused,” he stated.

As the legal proceedings move forward in the UK, Thomas Partey’s future remains uncertain. Analysts say the charges could significantly affect his ability to sign with a new club until the case is resolved, regardless of the outcome.
