Ghanaian Afro-fusion singer Moliy is carving her own path—and she’s doing it on her terms. In a bold and honest conversation with Revolt T, the rising star opened up about her commitment to staying independent and why authenticity and creative control matter more than a record deal.
“I’ve always been kind of hesitant to be a label artist because I’ve just heard so many stories,” Moliy shared. “I want it to feel organic. I don’t just wanna be a name on a list. Music is very personal to me.”
Best known for her vibrant sound and empowering lyrics, Moliy isn’t completely closed off to signing with a label—but it has to be the right fit.
“If I did get locked in with a label, I hope it’s something that could be a real, long-lasting, organic relationship,” she said.
Her stance comes from experience. In 2024, Moliy hit a creative wall, going a full year without releasing music. Despite positive talks with potential distribution partners, nothing materialized. That moment became a turning point.
“The conversations were sounding positive, but nothing was actually happening. I remember thinking, ‘Well, f**k it, I still wanna move. I don’t wanna be stagnant.’”
For Moliy, independence isn’t just a phase—it’s a mindset. She values the freedom to shape her own narrative and make music that reflects who she truly is.
“The most freeing part is just getting to do what I want creatively without someone telling me what to do. I don’t like being told what to do.”
And her message to fellow artists? Keep pushing.
“If you’re not putting your foot on the gas, no one is gonna do it for you. That’s what I love the most.”
As Moliy continues her rise, one thing is clear: she’s not compromising her vision for anyone.
