May Buhari’s memory Be a blessing – Ablakwa signs condolence book

Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late former President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, praising him as a “remarkable leader” and symbol of integrity, modesty, and unity.

In a statement shared on social media, Ablakwa revealed he had visited the Nigerian High Commission in Accra to sign the book of condolence in honour of the former Nigerian president, who passed away earlier this week.

“I was at the Nigerian High Commission in Ghana earlier today to sign a book of condolence in honour of the memory of the departed former president of Nigeria, His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari,” Ablakwa wrote.

The Minister lauded Buhari’s leadership style, describing him as a man who earned global respect for his modest lifestyle, empathy, and strong stance against corruption.

“President Buhari was a remarkable leader who gained global respect for his modesty, empathy, unifying disposition, democratic credentials, fight against corruption and his bold reforms,” he stated.

Ablakwa also conveyed condolences on behalf of former President John Dramani Mahama, the government, and people of Ghana, describing Buhari’s passing as a loss not only to Nigeria but to the entire African continent.

“President John Mahama, the government and all Ghanaians convey our deepest commiserations with the friendly nation of Nigeria in this time of mourning,” Ablakwa said.

He further acknowledged that former President Mahama had personally sent a message of condolence to Nigeria’s current President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, shortly after the news broke.

“It is worth acknowledging that President Mahama had earlier dispatched a personal message of condolence to his brother, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, immediately upon hearing the sad news.”

Concluding his tribute, Minister Ablakwa offered a poignant prayer:

“May President Buhari’s memory be a blessing.”
