OSP Declares Former Finance Ministry Advisor Ernest Darko Akore Wanted Over Corruption Case

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has issued a wanted notice for Ernest Darko Akore, a 67-year-old former Chef de Cabinet (Technical Advisor) at Ghana’s Ministry of Finance, in connection with an ongoing high-profile corruption investigation.

Mr. Akore is being sought for his alleged involvement in suspected corruption and corruption-related offenses linked to the controversial Revenue Assurance Contract between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML)—a deal that has come under intense public scrutiny.

The High Court–Criminal Division has issued an arrest warrant under the case titled Republic v Ernest D. Akore, with suit number CR/0397/2025. The warrant authorizes local and international law enforcement to locate and apprehend Mr. Akore.

According to the OSP’s notice, Mr. Akore may hold dual Ghanaian-American citizenship and is believed to have held an American passport. Authorities suspect he may currently be residing in the United States, United Kingdom, Hong Kong, or South Africa.

The OSP is urging the public, both in Ghana and abroad, to assist with locating Mr. Akore. Anyone with credible information on his whereabouts is encouraged to contact the office via WhatsApp or phone call on the following numbers:

📞 0554494499

The OSP’s pursuit of Mr. Akore forms part of a broader investigation into the Revenue Assurance Contract signed between the GRA and SML—an agreement meant to improve tax monitoring and revenue collection. Critics have raised concerns about transparency, value for money, and the role of politically connected individuals in the execution of the contract.

Mr. Akore, who held a key advisory position at the Ministry of Finance during the period under review, is suspected of playing a central role in the approval or facilitation of the agreement.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor reaffirmed its commitment to combating corruption without fear or favor and is intensifying efforts to ensure accountability in all sectors of public service.

This is a developing story.
